Eagle Golf Holidays- Deluxe Ireland Tours

The following itinerary is an example only. All holidays are tailor made to suit the needs of your group. A mini-bus tour for 8 persons on the west coast of Ireland, staying at two of the best top class hotels and playing golf on it’s finest courses.

FRIDAY - Depart the U.S.A. on evening flight to Shannon Airport, Ireland.

SATURDAY - Arrive Shannon Airport and be met and assisted with luggage before traveling to Killarney and the Aghadoe Heights Hotel. Golf has been arranged at nearby Mahoney’s Point golf course in the afternoon. A lakeside course of some 6152M (par 72) it offers a inspiring incomparable beauty amidst the serene splendor of the famous lakes of Killarney and in the shadow of the majestic MacGillycuddy Reeks. Cocktails followed by dinner and overnight at Aghadoe Heights.

SUNDAY - Your day begins as you skirt the MacGillycuddy Reeks to embark on one of Ireland’s scenic drives. The Ring of Kerry, a feast for the eyes, the spectacular Atlantic Ocean, majestic cliffs and mountains, that will live forever in your memory. On route play has been reserved at Waterville. A golfer’s paradise of some 7184 yards and must rate as one of the longest links courses in Europe. You’ll thrill to the magnificent 25 foot high 17th tee with it’s commanding view before you face the colossal climax of the 582 yard 18th. After golf, complete the Ring of Kerry via Kenmare and return to Killarney. Dinner and overnight at Aghadoe Heights.

MONDAY - Today’s golf will be on the site chosen for the 1991 Irish Open and the 1996 Curtis Cup. The Killeen parkland course (par 72, 6389 M) is Killarney’s toughest, but like it’s neighbor, it has a somewhat gentle pace which adds to the tranquility of the spectacular scenery. Killeen is one of those rare golf courses on which great golf and real visual splendor combine to provide an unforgettable experience. Dinner and overnight at Aghadoe Heights.

TUESDAY - Arnold Palmer’s golf course architectural company may have been commissioned to build the course, at Tralee, but long before that, nature created the cliffs, dunes and rugged terrain which makes the area so ideally suited for the building of a spectacular golf course. The course, hardened by the relentless pounding of the sea, shows nomercy to the golfer lacking in courage. Extending some 6239 M (par 71), the course can prove a nightmare for the unwary golfer. Dinner and overnight at Aghadoe Heights.

WEDNESDAY - This morning after breakfast, transfer from Killarney through County Limerick to the excellent Dromoland Castle Hotel at Newmarket-on-Fergus. Co. Clare. Situated in it’s own grounds, yet near enough to the many attractions in the River Shannon area including Bunratty Castle and the city of Limerick. Golf in the afternoon is within the estate of lush wooded parkland surrounding your accommodation. Although a young course, it has been carefully designed using the River Rhine which flows through it and creates out of bounds on three of the holes. Dinner and overnight at Dromoland Castle Hotel.

THURSDAY - Today, set off southwards accross the River Shannon to a breathtaking challenge at Ballybunion. The legendary Tom Watson once described the glorious course as “the best in the world”. The Old Course, consistently ranked as one of the world’s top ten courses, features a graveyard by the first tee, which some say is a warning to golfers who breeze through the first five holes only to come face to face with the ever challenging 6th, the fiendish 8th, the par four 11th and the devilishly tricky 15th.

FRIDAY - The venue for today is Lahinch, frequently referred to as the St. Andrew’s of Ireland and overlooks the Atlantic Ocean. The original layout for the vourse was the brainchild of old Tom morris, himself a four time British Open Champion. Subsequent alterations were put in the capable hands of Scottish architect Dr. Alistair MacKenzie who had also worked on Augusta, Pebble Beach and Cypress Point. The main championship links at Lahinch (par 72, 6123 M) is justifiably proud the reputation it has gathered as a stern challenge to even the most gifted of golfers. Dinner and overnight at Dromoland Castle Hotel.

SATURDAY - Sadly, today we must say “Slan Leat”, farewell at Shannon Airport.
