Eagle Golf Holidays Sample Scotland Itinary

The following itinerary is an example only. All holidays are tailor made to suit the needs of your group.

FRIDAY - Depart U.S.A. for flight to Scotland.

SATURDAY - Arrive Scotland where you will be assisted with baggage as you board the mini bus and travel to your accommodation at the Scores Hotel in St. Andrew’s. The hotel overlooks the Old Course and is situated a few minutes from the town center. Golf this afternoon is nearby at the St. Andrew’s New Course while non-golfers may relax, unpack, or visit the shopping area. Cocktails before dinner and overnight at the Scores Hotel.

SUNDAY - Golf today is at Carnoustie Links, probably the most difficult of all the courses, which was recently the venue for the “Open Championship” in 1999. On the journey you will pass over the River Tay, travel through the city of Dundee towards the venue on the North Sea Coast. Non-golfers will travel with the golfers to Carnoustie and then proceed to Glamis Castle. The castle dates back to the 9th century and is the birth place of the present Princess Margaret. Dinner and overnight at the Scores Hotel.

MONDAY - After breakfast golf can be enjoyed on the St. Andrew’s Old Course. The challenge of the links is at all times present and any relaxation of concentration can cost you dearly. Non-golfers may wish a short walking tour of the town or visit the golf museum. After golf, depart St. Andrew’s and travel over the Forth Road Bridge to the Marine Hotel North Berwick. Dinner and overnight at the Marine Hotel North Berwick.

TUESDAY - This morning golf has been arranged at the splendid Links at Muirfield Gullane. The club is the home of “The Honorable Companyof Edinburgh Golfers”. Lunch in the clubhouse is restricted to male golfers only and requires coat and tie to be worn in the dining room. Non-golfers will visit Edinburgh. Places of interest iclude The Castle, Holyrood Palace and The Royal Mile. Dinner and overnight at the Marine Hotel North Berwick.

WEDNESDAY - Gullane No.1 course is the venue for golf this morning. It is situated nearby and a panoramic view of Edinburgh and the Firth of Fourth is obtained from the 7th tee. Non-golfers may wish to browse about the quaint town of North Berwick. After golf, depart North Berwick and cross from the east to the west coast of Scotland and to the Marine Highland Hotel at Troon. The hotel overlooks the 18th hole of the Old Course at Royal Troon and faces towards the Firth of Clyde and the beautiful island of Arran. Dinner and overnight at the Marine Highland Hotel.

THURSDAY - The Old Course for men and the Portland Course for ladies at Royal Troon is arranged for this morning. All golfers will join for lunch together in the clubhouse. Further play on the Portland course is available in the afternoon. Non-golfers will visit Culzean Castle, the stately home of the Kennedy’s. Dinner and overnight at the Marine Highland Hotel.

FRIDAY - Arnold Palmer revived “The Open” Championship in the 1960’s and this mornings venue at Prestwick Old Course, where it all started. The course can only be described as unique with it’s Cardinal bunker, narrow fairways and great greens. Non-golfers will visit Burns Cottage and Memorial, see the Brig-O-Doon and have time to stroll along the High Street of Ayr for afternoon shopping. Dinner and overnight at the Marine Highland Hotel.

SATURDAY - Depart Troon for your return flight to U.S.A.
